1. Seaweed
Even celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has recognised the benefits of seaweed and attributed his recent weight loss to these nutritious food! Seaweed contain weight loss compounds such as alginate, which was discovered to reduce the amount of fat absorbed by the body, and fucoxanthin, which helps to burn fat! It is low in calories but loaded with fibres, thus keeping you full without those extra calories!
2. Beetroot
Beets contain no cholesterol and no fat! What’s more, they can supply 7% of the vitamin C and 3% of the calcium you need each day. Its high dietary fibre content also allow for satiety for a longer time. Its soluble fibres help to regulate blood sugar level and lower cholesterol while the insoluble fibres promote bowel movements.
3. Flaxseed
Flaxseed are rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a type of omega-3 fatty acid that can only be obtained from the diet. ALA slows down the rate of absorption, thus maintaining satiety. Flaxseed consists of 20% protein, which makes it an excellent source of plant based protein as well as an alternative to meat. Consider adding some flaxseed to your meal next time to keep hunger at bay!
